Respawn Entertainment and EA showcased a Titanfall 2 multiplayer tech test trailer at Gamescom, allowing some of the current pre-alpha specs to be analysed.

The game will be running on a modified version of Valve's Source Engine and will run at a resolution of 900P (1600X900), that's according to Digital Foundry (this does not mean that the final game will run at 900p on PS4. When we spoke to them they said that they're still not sure what it'll run at, but that they're fairly confident that they'll reach 1080p on PS4).

Appearing on Sony's console for the first time after being a Microsoft exclusive it appears to holding a solid 60fps with only the occasional dip. This is somewhat to be expected, as the game is currently still in pre-alpha, although It will be interesting to see how the Xbox One stacks up against this. Although as of yet no Microsoft footage has been released.

Unlike its predecessor, Titanfall 2 will get a fully realised campaign mode that explores the bond between man and titan. A story mode that is playable offline was widely requested by fans and, judging by the trailers, it looks like Respawn is set to deliver just what the fans have been asking for.

The game will of course feature it's trademark fast-paced multiplayer action and will bring a whole host of new features with it as well, including, six new titans, deeper pilot abilities, more customisation options, and a more robust progression system hopefully adding more depth and longevity for fans. For more intel check out our multiplayer impressions and thoughts on the campaign.

"With the original Titanfall, we focused on nailing the gameplay and reinventing the way you move and fight in a first person shooter," said Vince Zampella. "With Titanfall 2, we're building on that foundation by introducing a bespoke single player campaign backed by a deeper multiplayer experience that together will once again push the shooter genre forward".

As reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, which has received an early access key to the tech tests, Titanfall 2's client weighs in at 12.5 GB and this could be increased during the second test session, when two more maps, Amped Hardpoint and Forward Base, will be added.

Titanfall 2 will release for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 28th.
