Bethesda is renowned in the gaming industry for holding the keys to some of the most successful franchises in gaming, but it seems is not interested in branching out into other forms of media.

When recently asked if they would consider making films of their most popular franchises into films or TV shows VP of marketing, Pete Hines, said the publisher would rather just make games, telling Finder;

"We get asked to all the time, but the short version is; we make games."

Hines went on to explain how the company would not want to lose creative control of its franchises and wants the direction of the stories told in its games to remain in the hands of the developers, not a director or TV script writer.

"Well, I don't know anybody who actually has total control over the film adaptation of their video game," said Hines.

"If you did, why would you not just make it yourself? Of course the film studio and the scriptwriter and the director are going to have a tonne of say. They will have their own vision."

Hines did mention though that there is one offer they would at least consider, but only if it came from a certain director, saying: "I think if Peter Jackson turned up at Todd Howard's office and said, 'I want to do Elder Scrolls' well that would be a pretty serious conversation you would have to listen to,"

Hines finished by saying that Bethesda's board of directors has plenty of TV and film industry experience should they ever want to venture into the world of film with their franchises.
