Blizzard Entertainment's team based online shooter has truly achieved a critical mass. Today the company announced on Twitter that Overwatch has now over 15 million players. Considering that the game is a (almost) full priced release it means a huge success for Blizzard.
"Over 15 million Overwatch players? Whoo! Get HYPE! Thanks for believin', heroes".
The success of Overwatch also helped Activision Blizzard to a record setting quarter, with Q2 registering a massive $1.57 billion (up 50% year-on-year) in revenue. Digital accounted for more than two thirds of that number and continued success for Hearthstone. In fact, looking at Blizzard as a separate entity it was the highest earning quarter in Blizzard history and that's saying something.
