Last Tuesday, we reported that the first Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go was ready to be catched. Some people from different areas showed on Facebook and Reddit their Pokédex with Articuno in it, the Legendary Bird type ice from the first generation. But that news wasn't totally right since Niantic Labs has now denied any official distribution of Articuno.

A spokeperson of the company said than this Articuno "was not from Niantic". Speaking to Geek.com, explained that "it's either a spoof or someone hacked the game". Since at least one this captures has proven real, Niantic is holding an investigation to clarify this situation because there aren't "clear answers at the moment."

Kaitlyn Covey has one Articuno and showed it during a Q&A Livestream open to everydoby. The player claim they received it as a gift from Niantic for helping with a bug. And there are more because another player just showed up on Facebook claiming to have a Moltres, another Legendary Bird.

An official statement from Niantic reads as follows:

"We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokemon got into a few accounts when they shouldn't have, To preserve the game's integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokemon from the Trainers' accounts."
