If you're a fan of the Yakuza series developed by Sega, then we have some potentially good news for you this morning. During a recent livestream, producer Toshihiro Nagoshi announced that given the success of the Yakuza series in Asia, the company is considering the possibility of remastering Yakuza 2, 3, 4 and 5 for PlayStation 4.

Of course, the news hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but since these statements come directly from Nagoshi himself, it seems that there's a good chance that these updates could well be set to happen.

Whether the same plan also involves the Western market remains to be seen, but since the series is also preparing to make its comeback on this side of the world with Yakuza 0 launching early next year, we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope.

In case you missed it, Yakuza 5 is one of the free games on PS3 available to all PlayStation Plus subscribers this month. Meanwhile Yakuza 6 - announced last year at the Tokyo Game Show - will be available in the autumn in Japan (a European date hasn't been announced yet), and the game will follow the adventures of Kazuma Kiryu, who Nagoshi confirmed as the only playable character despite the return of some old faces last seen during previous chapters.

Thanks, DualShockers.
