Valve has posted an job advert for the position of industrial designer at the company, sparking fresh speculation that they're planning to make some sort splash in the hardware market.

The ad explains the reason behind the recruitment drive: "Even basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven't really changed in any meaningful way over the years. There's a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked."

The Steambox has long been speculated on, and the wording of the job posting has caused some to consider that Valve are in fact working on a new console. But it's more likely that they're looking for designers to work on wearable computer equipment, something that Valve employee Michael Abrash has been openly looking at for some time. Or maybe the innovative company are looking at something entirely different, we'll just have to wait and see.
