One would think a game like Pokémon Go would be released first in Japan. After all, Japan is the series' home land, but still Nintendo, and Niantic Labs chose to launch the game first in the US, Australia and New Zealand.
Then Europe followed as soon as the servers were capable of handling the traffic, while Japan remained in the dark. In fact, the Japanese version is still not out, due to the imense server load from the millions of players throughout the rest of the world.
Speaking to Siliconera Niantic CEO John Hanke explained that they are working tirelessly to ensure local server capacity for the upcoming Japanese release:
"At present, the server capacity in Japan is not powerful enough. We are working hard with our partners in Japan to enable the servers to keep up with demand once the game goes online there. We expect it to be released by the end of July."
How long it will take before the Japanese people get to join in on the fun, remains to be seen. According to Forbes some believe this might not happen until mid-September, as the developers expect the same or even more enthusiasm for the game in the home market.
