Three well known veterans of the Swedish games industry have announced the formation of Fast Travel Games - a new outfit focused on creating VR games. The trio is made up of Oskar Burman (CEO), up until recently studio manager at Rovio Sweden and prior to that worked at several big studios including EA Easy Studios and Avalanche Studios, Kristoffer Benjaminsson (CTO), most recently senior development director at Frostbite Labs and formerly CTO at Easy Studios and lead programmer at EA DICE, and Erik Odeldahl (creative director) with ten years of experience at EA DICE and most recently as design director on Mirror's Edge Catalyst (we actually spoke to Odeldahl at an event and he spoke to us then about his interest in VR).

"We feel that VR offers limitless opportunities, and that it's inherent qualities make it perfectly suited for storytelling and socially rich experiences," said Oskar Burman, Fast Travel Games' CEO and co-founder. "We're looking to define a new genre of games for VR. Our games will focus strongly on narratively rich worlds full of possibilities for exploration and social gameplay, where players can cooperate, share worlds and experiences, and play together."

The trio is getting backing from several industry veterans as advisors from the likes of Mojang, Paradox, Avalanche, and Microsoft, and has received initial seed funding from among others Sunstone Capital, a well known investor in the Swedish games industry.

More details on the company and their games are expected in the next few months.
