There's been some confusing messages coming out of Bethesda of late, specifically regarding The Elder Scrolls VI. The studio has confirmed that they have got two major games coming before they get properly stuck into the next entry in the fantasy RPG series.
The way Bethesda's Todd Howard put things, it sounded like the sixth Elder Scrolls game was in the early stages of development, but it turns out that this is not the case at all. Communications man Pete Hines has clarified the situation for us, clearly stating on Twitter that "we aren't working on TES6 at the moment."
This, according to Hines, isn't due to The Elder Scrolls Online, but rather "because they have two other major titles to work on." He then sent a brief but definitive statement to PCGamer that said: "[Howard] said we were going to make it. He never said it was in development."
Meanwhile, and tantalisingly, Bethesda has teased us regarding the scale of the two games they're making in the meantime, saying that they're both as big as Fallout or Skyrim. What might they be? Your guess is as good as ours at this stage, but we can't wait to hear more when the studio are ready to tell us.
