Paradox Interactive have been enjoying some strong sales of their grand strategy titles in recent years. And now they have revealed the latest figures for some of their strongest performing games. Hearts of Iron IV, released on June 6, has already sold 200,000 copies in less than two weeks since release.
Stellaris, the company's first grand strategy title set in space, has sold more than half a million copies since its release in early May, and Europa Universalis IV has sold more than a million copies (released in August, 2013). No new numbers for Crusader Kings II was revealed, but as it had sold more than 1.1 million copies in January, 2015, it stands to reason it's still the highwater mark of Paradox-developed grand strategy titles.
"PC gaming is thriving, and we're doing incredibly well in a market that is increasingly competitive" said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. "Over the course of our company's lifetime, we have remained dedicated to creating deep and challenging games for players who want experiences that will last for countless hours.
"The key to these successes - games that not only sell well at launch, but sell sustainably for years to come - is that we continue to provide ongoing support and development, and remain connected to our community to understand what our players want from their time with our games. The PC platform is ideal for keeping our games updated and supported, thanks to our ability to easily share updates and new expansions - and for our players to share their creative mods."
To celebrate, Paradox have released a free DLC (limited time) called Fredman's Epistles, it's a musical add-on that adds songs by Swedish poet and songwriter Carl Michael Bellman. They mainly revolve around women and drinking, in case you're curious.
