It should come as no surprise that Ed Boon, creator and producer of the Mortal Kombat series, loves horror movies. In the last two Mortal Kombat games we've been treated to guest characters such as the nasty Xenomorph from Alien, the ungodly Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, good ol' Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street, the beastly Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th, and Predator from... well, Predator.

This caused Game Informer to ask him if NetherRealm Studios is interested in creating a horror-themed fighting game with characters such as those listed above, and it turns out there's a chance it might happen:

"Yes, yes! You know, as we've been accumulating them, that idea has been coming up more and more frequently. You brought it up and a few other people have brought it up like 'why don't you do a horror movie fighting game?' Maybe one day we'll do it."

This is of course a mouth-watering proposition that we hope will happen one day. Boon also revealed there's likely to be guest characters in Injustice 2 as well, since Scorpion was the most downloaded of all of them in the first game.
