The Chinese internet giant Tencent is about to acquire Finnish game developer Supercell, as revealed by the Wall Street Journal today. According to WSJ, Tencent Holdings Ltd has reached an agreement with current owner SoftBank Group Corp for an estimated sum of $8.6 billion dollars for an 84.3% stack in the company (which means the company is valued at over $10 billion USD). Apparently the deal will be officially revealed later today or this week. Supercell is of course best known for their highly successful and profitable smart phone games, such as Hay Day, Clash of Clans, and most recently, Clash Royale.
