It feels like the first half of 2016 has been one big rumour after another, with chatter centred on the new consoles coming from Microsoft, Sony and of course Nintendo. This week French gaming site GameBlog.fr posted another whopper, this one regarding the reveal and hardware stats for Nintendo's NX.
According to Gameblog's sources, Nintendo was originally planning to launch the NX console in autumn 2016, but backed out at the last minute. Allegedly the main reason for this was delays to games from major third-party developers including Square Enix and Capcom. Because of this Nintendo is now expected to announce the new console in a special press event this September, with a launch date in March of next year.
The rumours also touch on the NX's hardware, saying Nintendo doesn't want to launch the console if it's completely overshadowed by PS4 Neo and Xbox One Scorpio. It may be that Nintendo wants to adjust the power levels to be more comparable with the upgraded PS4 and Xbox One. Gameblog also mentions that the new controller will be "interesting and surprising" and NX will support eight of them at the same time. It's likely that NX will not feature a similar master controller as the Wii U's GamePad.
Interesting rumours, no doubt about it, but with anonymous sources like this one, take the info with huge pinch of salt. In the meantime we must wait for Nintendo to unveil the new console later this year.
