Two weeks ago we learned that Warcraft: The Beginning was off to a fabulous start in China. It is in fact so popular that it has become the highest grossing video game movie of all time.
The previous record holder, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, took in a very impressive $335 million internationally back in 2010, but Duncan Jones' movie has now beaten that by a fair margin. According to Box Office Mojo, the fight between orcs and men has now reached $378,412,014.
How can that be when the movie suffered a 73% drop in weekend ticket sales after its first week in the United States? Well, it's quite simple. The Chinese market contributed over $200 million to the movie's combined revenue. This is definitely just the beginning of a Warcraft movie series.
