The games industry is an exciting one. Big blockbuster companies are trading jabs when it comes to both hardware and software, and small indies are constantly trying to strike it lucky with the next big thing.
Mattel has thus decided to make a game developer version of Barbie, a doll that taps into the excitement of game development, and that resonates with their young audience. Yes, you can buy it right now from their website (although, after our cursory scan of the interwebs, the doll seems to be selling out fast).
Apparently her outfit is "industry inspired", and her "vibrant red hair and bright matching glasses complete the authentic look." In addition, Game Developer Barbie comes with a headset and a laptop with "real game code graphics".
Whether or not you think the outfit is stereotypical or not, choosing game development as a career path should be encouraged, especially among young women, and this is certainly a step in the right direction after Mattel's last attempts at doing the same thing.
