Supply of PlayStation VR is likely not to meet the demand upon launch, Sony has said, and although efforts have been taken not to compare it to the release of a new console, President and Group CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Andrew House has warned fans that there could be similar frustrations to that of a console launch.
"We'll do our very best to meet demand" although they are confident that they will be "supply constrained", House said in an interview, giving the reason that with such a new form of medium "it's difficult to predict what user uptake is going to be".
House went on to say that Sony are "very excited about the overall future potential for virtual reality" but also said that "the experiences we are delivering are truly transformative for gaming and that will inspire a certain audience. How large that audience is remains to be seen".
Sony is working with both independent developers and existing partners to bring VR games to PlayStation VR, including games such as Batman Arkham VR and Resident Evil 7.
PlayStation VR is coming to PS4 on October 13.
