Microsoft wants to buy LinkedIn for $26.2 billion

The software giant and Xbox creator Microsoft has placed a bid to buy the busness network LinkedIn for a whipping $26.2 billion. LinkedIn will keep its brand and boss, but will be owned by Microsoft so CEO Jeff Weiner would have to report and answer to Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella, who says:

"The LinkedIn team has grown a fantastic business centered on connecting the world's professionals. Together we can accelerate the growth of LinkedIn, as well as Microsoft Office 365 and Dynamics as we seek to empower every person and organization on the planet."

The more than 430 million LinkedIn users will most likely have their profiles integrated with Microsoft software like Office, Skype and Outlook. The LinkedIn board has given the deal their approval for what will become one of Microsoft's biggest purchases ever.
