Ubisoft have reported that first quarter sales for 2010-11 are up a whopping 93 per cent compared to 2009-10. Or in terms of real money €160 million compared to €83 million. The French publisher has singled out three key factors "solid" performance of Splinter Cell Conviction (sold 1.9 million), good performance by casual and back-catalogue titles (Just Dance, Assassin's Creed II and Avatar: The Game mentioned), and favourable exchange rates that accounted for an extra €9 million.
Good times for Ubisoft, but the next quarter looks slow as only H.A.W.X. 2 and R.U.S.E. will see release. The publisher has also pushed the release of Driver: San Francisco (pictured) from the fourth quarter of 2010 to the first quarter of 2011 in a move to avoid the holiday rush. Perhaps it should also be noted that Driver: San Francisco failed to impress at E3, and a few more months of development can only do it good.
