Overwatch is finally out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and before the release the open beta had over 9.7 million participants. The says something about the game's popularity, and that popularity can also be translated into sales apparently.
According to a new quarterly report from games retailer Gamestop (via DualShockers), the game has sold way ahead of company projections.
Chief Operating Officer Tony Bartel said the following of the launch:
"Overwatch exceeded our expectations, and it was a very strong launch for us."
Blizzard also made the decision to let retailers sell Overwatch 24 hours before the servers went live, which apparently is part of the reason for the strong launch sales at retail. Gamestop called the decision a "progressive move".
