A politically charged game called Liyla and The Shadows of War has been returned to the App Store's Games section after Apple reversed a decision regarding its classification.

Last week representatives of the App Store told Palestinian developer Rasheed Abueideh that the game's political message meant it would be better suited in the News or Reference categories of the digital store:

"Please revise the app category for your append remove it from Games, since we found that your app is not appropriate in the Games category. It would be more appropriate to categorize your app in News or Reference for example. In addition, please revise the marketing text for your app to remove references to your app being a game."

The situation was further aggravated when it was publicly pointed out that another game, where you get to play as an Israeli rocket in an Angry Bird clone, remained on sale while Liyla and The Shadows of War was told to relocate.

However, since last week's events, Apple has changed its position on the matter, as Abueideh confirmed on Twitter: "Just happening: Apple reconsider its decision, they will publish Liyla as a Game. Thanks to all of you."

Liyla and The Shadows of War, which has players controlling a little girl living in Gaza, is available iOS and Android.
