If you want to play online on an Xbox console, you need an active Xbox Live Gold membership. The monthly price you have to pay for such a membership has remained unchanged for some time, but now reports of an increased price have started to come in.

More specifically Game Informer writes that the Xbox Live Gold price is going up in six territories, to adapt to local currency fluctuations. These territories are Austria, Hungary, Israel, South Africa, Sweden, and Turkey.

"We occasionally update pricing in a given market to provide a balance of service and value, and in some instances, meet currency fluctuations within the region, and will be adjusting the price of Xbox Live Gold subscription in a small number of markets on June 20, 2016," a Microsoft representative told the magazine in an email.

The new monthly price is not set for all of the territories yet, but they are expected to land at a local equivalent to $9.99 (£7 / €9) per month. In South Africa the price has been set to the equivalent of $10.33 monthly / 63$ yearly.

So far we've heard no news regarding similar changes to the pricing in other countries, but if we do we'll be sure to let you know.
