Even though the game has not been officially announced yet, developer Techland is expected to be working on a sequel for Dying Light. However, studio head Pawel Marchewka has told Polish gaming magazine Gamepressure that this sequel is just one of two major projects in development at the moment.
In adition to the still unnamed sequel, the studio is working on an RPG game set in an open world, which will be the fist game in an entirely new series. In other words we are not talking about anything related to Dead Island, but something brand new.
Both of the games combined have a budget exceeding £50 million and will run on Techland own game engine:
"We're currently working on not one, but two new titles. We estimate their total budget to be around $77 million, so these will be so-called AAA games. One of them is a fantasy game with a big, open world and RPG elements, with single-player as well as co-op multiplayer. It is not an evolution of Hellraid," Marchewka told the magazine.
