The second and final expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, called Blood and Wine, is out on May 31, and then developer CD Projekt RED can fully concentrate on the production of the upcoming sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077.

The developer has already stated that they won't be returning to the fantasy series anytime soon, if ever, but now, thanks to an interview with Eurogamer, we know that at least one of the developers on the team wants to return some day:

"Personally, I hope that someday in the future we will do something more because I love the setting and I work on The Witcher games around 12 years right now," game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said. "But I don't know what we will decide. The strategy plan they've got they will share with us soon. We'll see."

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to release after 2017, with the studio's next big title (whatever that may be) apparently set to land before 2021. According to reports, after the success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt RED are now able to support multiple functional teams (two major, two minor being the goal).

The studio has also recently stated that they favour Rockstar model, so even if they have the ability to work on more than one title at once, we don't expect them to start releasing games that often as they aim to continue developing their reputation as one of the world's top tripleA studios.
