Last evening was a hot news night for new EA games. One of the games that may have slipped past people's attention more news on the Visceral Games (Dead Space series, Battlefield Hardline) developed Star Wars project.

During the financial briefing EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen told those listening that Visceral's Star Wars game is looking currently at a 2018 release. He did not however specify if he meant fiscal year 2018, which runs from April, 2017-March, 2018 or calendar 2018 (more likely). It would make sense for EA to try and coordinate the release with an upcoming Star Wars movie, but given the busy schedule it's hard to imagine they'd miss that.

"We also are working on a Star Wars action game that part of the Motive team is working on as well as part of the Visceral team and that's most likely the following year [after 2017's Battlefront 2]", EA's CFO added.

Visceral's Star Wars has so far kept top secret and no information about it has been detailed. Rumours have been pointing to some sort of open world RPG, but so far EA and Visceral have been able to keep it under wraps. It is interesting to see if E3 2016 will be the first place we finally get the official announcement or whether EA opts to keep it under wraps for a bit longer.
