The mystery surrounding a mysterious Neo-Geo fighting game has finally been solved thanks to some detective work by Japanese site ITMedia, which managed tracked down the maker of the game.
The title, which was discovered by an enthusiast hidden away on an old arcade board, never saw release because it was never completed. The title's creator, Kengo Asai, also worked on more prominent fighting games like The Last Blade, Schmeiser Robo, and Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer.
His unfinished Neo-Geo fighter was in development from around 1995-1996, and then many years later was discovered on the aforementioned arcade board by an individual called NeoTurfMasta, who bought it for $750.
Asai has since confirmed that it is his game. While never had an official name, it was known internally as Darkseed. When Asai found out there was already a game called Darkseed, the name was changed to Dragon's Heaven. The production was cancelled due to funding issues.
