Minecraft has today officially made its debut today in the world Virtual Reality, more precisely on Samsung Gear VR, with Mojang confirming the news on its official blog.

Minecraft Gear VR Edition has the same features included as the Minecraft Pocket Edition, including the multiplayer mode, but it requires a wireless gamepad to work. As Mojang explained in the blog post, the player can choose between two different view modes: the "theater view" (which according to Mojang is more comfortable), and first-person view (which provides greater involvement).

Minecraft Gear VR Edition is now available on Android at €6.99 (that's around £4.80). The Oculus Rift version is currently still in development.
