The season pass for Gears of War 4 has been detailed by Microsoft, and most notably it's going cost £40. That's quite a chunk of change, so let's take a look at what you get for your money.
First up, investors will get access to all of the multiplayer maps, all of the time (the game has a map rotation system whereby 10 maps are supplemented by DLC maps that will be free, but which won't always be available - unless you buy them), with 24 maps to be made available over the course of the year, two per month.
Players also get the Vintage VIP Pack, including Vintage JD, as well as two Vintage weapon skins. The season pass also includes a developer playlist that grants players access to new modes and maps ahead of general release. Finally, for your money, you get six Gears packs, and these unlock character and weapon skins, emblems, and consumables. We'll leave it up to you to decide whether that lot represents good value for money.
Microsoft also announced a couple of editions, and the obligatory pre-order incentive. Those who slap their money down early will bag a Vintage Del Gear Pack, and that includes a Vintage Del character model, two Vintage weapon skins, an exclusive emblem, and a Vintage Del bounty.
Finally, on top the standard version of the game there's the Ultimate Edition, and that'll set you back £79.99. For that you'll get the base game, the season pass, a steelbook, and early access to the game (October 7) ahead of the full launch on Xbox One on October 11. The beta for Gears of War 4 is currently ongoing, and it's open to anyone with Xbox Gold.
