The always hardworking detectives over at NeoGAF have unearthed evidence that suggests Microsoft is making steps towards a new Xbox One model. According to this Microsoft are testing a new wireless chip for FCC approval, something that could indicate a new model is inbound. Microsoft seem to be testing two configurations with the FCC.
The expiry date for the embargo on this is also interesting, as the first one expires June 25, making a E3 reveal a likely scenario.
Whether this is something that actually will pan out remains to be seen. But speculation is now inevitable. Are Microsoft looking to counter the often rumoured PlayStation 4K? Or are they preparing a new slim model of Xbox One, perhaps one without Blu-Ray drive? Or could it be something mundane as a slightly altered SKU that for all intents and purposes is the same hardware that we already now?
Anticipation for Microsoft's E3 press briefing on June 13 is building, and they have launched new console models at these events in previous years.
