The popular streaming service Twitch has joined esports organiser Faceit to create the joint effort Esports Championship Series (ECS), a league with $3.5 million in prize money available from the very beginning.
ECS starts right now with qualifications in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, with ten teams from Europe and ten from North America. This is also the first league that offers the possibility to become an owner of the league for teams, much like how it works in professional sports in North America such as the NFL.
ECS is mainly a competitor to ESL and the recently announced Eleague. More informations about qualifications and participating teams are expected shortly.
