Sony has suggested that its virtual reality platform, PlayStation VR, might one day make the jump to PC, where it would provide Oculus Rift and HTC Vive with some stern competition.

Sony executive Masayasu Ito told Nikkei (and as translated by MSDefenseForce on Reddit) that while the Japanese company are considering porting the VR platform to PC, "nothing will happen right away."

"Since Playstation 4 shares a lot of its internals with PCs, the possibility is there," the many from Sony teased. "At the moment we are focused on games and we are not ready to make any announcements at this stage, but I'd say there will be an expansion into various fields."

PlayStation VR is launching on PS4 this October, although the headset is being preceded by Oculus Rift (out now) and HTC Vive (out next week). While the two headsets would have a considerable head start over Sony's were it ever to make it over to PC, the lower price point of PSVR and the software it would bring with it would certainly give it a fighting chance.
