DayZ, the incredibly popular zombie survival mod for Arma 2, is currently being developed into a standalone game.
The announcement came from the development team, who revealed: "That's right, this is actually happening - DayZ will be developed as a standalone game, with me [Dean "Rocket" Hall] as project lead, by Bohemia Interactive."
An official site is already up and running, and there it is revealed that "development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game, so anyone who is playing the mod now will be able to continue to do so." Surely news that will please the community growing around the mod.
The site also explained how the planned game will be launched: "The project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price."
There's not many more details available. For more on the standalone game refer to the official site, but for mod related information head to the original link.
