New details and screenshots for Nintendo's upcoming mobile game, Pokémon GO, have finally been released. Nintendo and developer Niantic have been very quiet about the game since its announcement last year, so it's nice to finally hear some news regarding the game and what it will be like.

In a post form Niantic, some screenshots of the game were shared along with a few details of what gameplay will be like. The screenshots show an interface similar to that of Google Maps and Streetview, and you can zoom in and out to get a better view of what's around you.

In this post, Niantic explained that "certain wild Pokémon will only appear in their native environments." This means that water-type Pokémon would only appear near bodies of water, grass types near wooded areas, and more.

Players can also get Eggs that hatch and reveal new Pokémon, and these will be purchasable at designated 'PokéStops,' along with other items like more Pokéballs. These PokéStops will be places like museums, monuments, and other landmarks.

Players will also be able to do battle with each other, and trainers will be "encouraged to join one of three teams in order to compete over the ownership and prestige of Gyms." Gyms will be placed around similarly to how PokéStops are situated.

Pokémon GO is expected to release sometime this year; you can check out the screenshots below.
