After Nintendo's successful debut in mobile space with Miitomo in Japan (you can read our impressions here), other companies in the industry are now looking to walk down a similar path.
With that in mind, Sony Computer Entertainment has now announced a new subsidiary company, called ForwardWorks Corporation, which will focus on bringing PlayStation IPs to smartphones.
With Atsushi Morita, president of SCE Japan, leading the new company, ForwardWorks will begin operating on April 1 and, as revealed in an official document, they will develop mobile PlayStation titles specifically for Japan and other Asian markets (at the moment, there isn't any talk regarding the Western market).
The same document also states that they are aiming this mobile content at a mainly casual audience, as that's the demographic that tends to enjoy mobile games the most.
It must be said that this isn't the first time that Sony has made a move into this particular market: the company tried back in 2012 with PlayStation Mobile, however this initiative was shut down in September of last year.
