There's isn't much known about Nintendo's next console, the NX. We're pretty sure the Kyoto-based company are going to unveil something sooner rather than later, but its feature list and a possible release date are still unknown.
When it does land, whenever that may be, we may be getting a console with features reminiscent of Microsoft's now abandoned camera-based peripheral, Kinect, after patent applications surfaced that show off gesture recognition and a distance-measuring infrared camera (you can check out the details for yourselves here, here, and here).
Of course these three applications and the tech detailed therein may have absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo's next console, in fact we'd go as far as saying that, after the lack of success enjoyed by Microsoft in their attempts to get Kinect to stick, it's unlikely that Nintendo will walk down the same path. But it's food for thought nonetheless.
