The massive hype generated around the game, after highly successful closed and open beta testing, did tell us that Ubisoft had a hit on their hands. However, the French software house had never expected such a major success, as the game is now officially the "fastest-selling game" on day-one in the company's history. For now Ubisoft haven't released any firm figures, but this means that The Division beat out all the Assassin's Creed titles, Far Crys and other Clancy titles in terms of day one.

Ubisoft reports that - based on data from NPD, GFK Chart Track and internal estimates - they have developed three of the four most successful new IP in the history of the industry - The Division, Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed - alongside Destiny, from Bungie and Activision. Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot, comment this important success as follows:

"The launch of The Division is a tremendous achievement for Ubisoft, and demonstrates our unrivaled capacity to create fantastic new game brands and transform them into entertainment blockbusters. This is a momentous day for Ubisoft, but more importantly it marks the start of millions of players' enduring engagement in The Division's game world, which we are confident they will love."

You can read our The Division's review impressions of the game for more intel. Expect the full review to drop late this week or early next week, depending on when we feel we've had enough time with it.
