During a recent AMA held over on Reddit, Microsoft's former CEO and founder, Bill Gates, answered questions posted by a number of users across various topics, but one in particular has caught the attention of the gaming world: when can we get a new Age of Empires?
Gates answered playfully, as follows: "I will look into this. How many empires do you need?". Just one bill, just one.
Of course, Gates' answer doesn't confirm a new entry in the famous RTS series, but it has been a long time since a new Age of Empires was released. The last entry in the series released for PC (not counting mobile games and the various spin-offs) is the remake of Age of Empires II HD, released in April 2013, which was a great success.
So will Age of Empires 4 ever make an appearance? We don't think so given the fate that befell Ensemble Studios, but let's see what Microsoft plans to do with this franchise in the future. Who knows, maybe Bill will have a word with Phil Spencer and make something happen.
