Many might not know his name, but those who do know his importance for the gaming industry. On Saturday February 20th former 3DO vice president Dave Needle passed away. No cause was communicated by the team behind the Atari History Book, who accounced his passing through social medias.

In addition to help leading 3DO Needle was instrumental in the completion of the so-called Lorraine project, from which Amiga 1000 was born. This in turn led the Amiga's custom chips, and Needle was also involved in the development of the the world's first handheld console with a colour LCD display, the Atari Lynx.

Out thoughs go out to Needle's family and friends. Thanks for all the hard work.

Thanks, Develop Online.
