Since the first major Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament in 2013, the professional eSports industry has grown at a massive rate, and tournaments are now being streamed to millions worldwide.
The organisers of CS:GO eSports have taken note of this huge growth, and are making a change to all major championships accordingly, increasing the prize pool of all major CS tournaments, starting with MLG Columbus, to $1 million.
This is good news for the industry, as it indicates a good deal of growth, and shows that there is an increasing interest in competitive gaming. Last year's major Dota 2 tournament had a massive prize pool of $18 million, in part due to the crowdfunding efforts from its players and community.
This year will undoubtedly be a promising one for both CS:GO competitive gaming and all eSports in general.
