Sega have announced plans to bring some of the old classic Mega Drive (Genesis) titles to digital download destinations such as Steam. The first batch of 11 games will be released on June 1, with prices starting at $2.99. Here is the list:
Altered Beast
Comix Zone
Crack Down
Ecco the Dolphin
Gain Ground
Golden Axe
Shadow Dancer: the Secret of Shinobi
Shinobi III
Sonic 3D Blast
Space Harrier II
Vectorman
"It's exciting to be able to offer these classic games to a new audience" said Nick Pili, Network Business Director at SEGA Europe. "Delivered via our digital partners, every PC owner can now enjoy these timeless masterpieces whenever they want!"
Oh well, let's see if PC players, who are used to picking up these oldies for free and running them on emulators can be persuaded to go legal... But if they bring out some of the classics the price point will surely help in that regard. It would be rather nice to have a collection of Phantasy Star games or Sonic titles on Steam afterall.
