40 million registered players. That's an impressive number any way you look at it. Each of those 40 million have at least tried Blizzard Entertainment's highly successful digital collectible card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
Activision Blizzard also announced during its investor report that the last adventure The League of Explorers "sold over 20% more units during the first 6 weeks after launch compared to the prior Adventure in the same time frame. As a result of this new content, and continued strength across platforms and regions, Hearthstone hit all-time franchise highs in multiple categories, including MAUsA, at the end of Q4.
The next expansion as well as new gameplay formats are expected to arrive on Hearthstone this spring. Blizzard is currently planning a Hearthstone event for March 9. That could very well be the reveal for the upcoming content, but we have to wait and see.
