This week the Vision VR/AR Summit 2016 conference is being held in Hollywood, California. As the name suggests it's an event centred around virtual and augmented reality technology, and unsurprisingly Sony is on site to talk about PlayStation VR.

Their strongest message thus far has been the statement that: "All PS4 owners are ready for VR." That's according to Dr. Richard Marks, Director of the PlayStation Magic Lab at Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), who said as much during his keynote speech.

By "ready" he does not mean emotional readiness, but the fact that PS4 owners will not require any additional hardware to enjoy VR with their PlayStation 4 console. They need the PS4 and the Playstation VR headset, and that's it.

One could, however, make the argument that the same statement is valid for all PC owners, as they too have the required hardware on hand. That being said, there's no guarantee that a given PC is powerful enough run VR software, whereas the PS4 + PS VR combination exists within a locked environment with far fewer variables.

On the other hand, if you do have a powerful enough PC you will have the option to choose between several VR systems, while PS4 owners are bound to PlayStation VR.
