Sega has announced, via an interview with The World Folio, that they're bringing Sonic the Hedgehog to the big screen in 2018, and it'll be in a partnership with Sony Pictures.
"Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid Sonic The Hedgehog movie scheduled for release in 2018," Sega chief executive, Hajime Saito said.
"Like with this CG animation production, we would like to expand our business into other entertainment areas beyond what we are currently involved."
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Sonic, so a number of announcements are expected throughout the next twelve months. Yesterday the company shared a mysterious image via Twitter, which could suggest that a new game announcement is also imminent.
