Zelda Informer reports on an anonymous "tipster" who claims that Nintendo are on the verge of picking up Rare, a studio they owned a share in and sold off to Microsoft a number of years back. Apparently this would be a result of Nintendo wanting the Banjo-Kazooie franchise.
The rumour sounds extremely far-fetched as Nintendo have never been known to go out of their way to bring in outside licenses. And the Rare of today is a studio with a much different culture than that during the Nintendo days - mostly focusing on Kinect titles these days. If there was any truth to this rumour it would be much more likely that Nintendo purchased the Banjo-Kazooie IP than outright buying Rare. Then again, stranger things have been known to happen.
