Since its initial release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in September 2013, Grand Theft Auto V has been released on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC - breaking many records along the way. As of the end of last quarter (Dec 31) publisher Take-Two had shipped 60 million copies of the game.

With a weaker line-up than in the same period in 2014, the revenue and net income decreased. In fact, total revenue was down from $954 million in 2014 to $486.8 million in 2015, and the net income was down from $211.6 to $99.7 million.

Grand Theft Auto V was the most profitable game for Take-Two last quarter, both because of the copies shipped and the money spent on microtransactions in the game's online component, GTA Online.

GTA Online will likely continue to make plenty of money for Take-Two, as will the game itself that still ranks high on retail charts all over the world. As Gamespot reports, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in an earnings briefing that GTA Online had its best week in the past two years this past holiday. This was in regards of both active players and revenue. That's some pretty impressive legs...
