Last December Cloud Imperium Games announced that the singleplayer campaign of Star Citizen, Squadron 42, would spin off to be a standalone expansion. Now the developer has announced via its latest round-up that the split will occur on a rather poorly fitting day, namley February 14th - Valentine's Day.
"Squadron 42 will be available as either a stand alone game or an optional addon for Star Citizen rather than be included by default. If you want to lock in both games for the lowest possible price, consider pledging before this deadline."
Squadron 42 is scheduled to launch fully this year, while Star Citizen is gradually being built out module by module.
