While Microsoft keep on hiding Xbox One's official sales, there might be a way of working out how many units have been sold after Electronic Arts announced that the user base of next-generation consoles (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) is approximately 55 million units.
Since Sony has always talked loudly about the sales of PlayStation 4, which was over 36 million as of the end of last year, it's very simple to figure out what the numbers are for Xbox One. Our maths would put Xbox One at somewhere around 19 million, give or take.
This indicates that the gap remains pretty stable, with PS4 outselling Xbox One roughly 2-to-1. But the situation is very different in different countries and regions. In the UK, for example, the gap is less than half a million, but in other European markets, such as Germany, PlayStation 4 is completely dominant.
Thanks, MCV.
