The source only seem to verify that the feature will be added to the shared world shooter, but not when exactly this will happen. Also, no details about a potential pricing of the packs is known. Bungie has not yet commented on the matter.
Microtransactions themselves are already available in Destiny. You can buy the in-game currency called Silver using real money in order to purchase emotes to "talk" to fellow players in the Tower or add some spice to your Sparrow ride. 500 Silver will run you for £3.99($4.99/€4.99) with larger packs available at a discount.
