The NPD Group collects data on physical game copies sold in the US, and the numbers for 2015 are in. These numbers show that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was the best selling game in the US last year, and the entire franchise has, since its beginnings way back in 2003, sold over 250 million copies worldwide.
The general manager of the franchise, Rob Kostich, had this to say: "This also marks the seventh year in a row that Call of Duty has been the number 1 selling franchise in North America, according to NPD," and he added to that by stating that "Call of Duty has surpassed 250 million units sold life-to-date worldwide."
We suspect that the Call of Duty franchise will continue to grow in the years to come, and it's no surprise that Activision isn't ready to shut it down just yet. In 2016 it's Infinity Ward's turn, and we look forward to seeing what they come up with later this year when it's time to make the big reveal.
