When pre-orders for Hitman on PlayStation 4 started getting cancelled, fans immediately started to fear the worst. The reason for the move isn't actually that severe; Square Enix told Sony that the "configuration" of the game "has changed significantly."

"As a result we have withdrawn the current pre-order from PlayStation Store and will cancel all pre-orders. A revised pre-order for Hitman will be available on the store soon."

Reading between the lines, it means that the game the many people pre-ordered has changed quite a lot due to Square Enix's decision to repackage the game after their original retail model was met with some criticism.

Meanwhile, IO are reassuring fans on Twitter: "If your HITMAN preorder is cancelled, don't panic. Release date is still March 11. We're adjusting a few things & will update in a few days."

That March 11 date accounts for the first part of Hitman's complicated launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. After the initial release more content will be made available at regular intervals (all the details you need to know are here).
