Starting from today Techland has updated the Steam Workshop dev tools for Dying Light, adding new co-op and player-vs-player functionality. The new update is completely free and it opens up new creative options for creative players, who can now design co-op based scenarios and new deathmatch maps.

This update comes alongside a PvP-focused custom map called 'Don't Drown', created by RabidSquirrel, an active member of the Dying Light community. The map is set on an island and features an ever-rising water level to keep the combatants motivated. 'Don't Drown' has players explore the island and avoid zombies in search of powerful weapons which they can then use to take on one another.

"Just like with the main game we've been supporting the Dev Tools for almost a year now, and we've already seen amazingly creative stuff from our fans," says producer Tymon SmektaƂa. "We believe the co-op and PvP support can inspire a new wave of original maps for everyone to enjoy. At the same time, we're working hard to bring some the very best custom maps to consoles, and I hope we'll have something to announce soon".

So, good news for the console-based players as well! The next date of note regarding Dying Light is February 9, when The Following - new massive expansion for the game - will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
